How we celebrated valentines day in the last 7 years

February 14, 2021, the pandemic is still happening. Only the essential shops are open and no establishments are operating for any type of recreation or any fancy dinner. I am just grateful because my wife and I as well as our families are safe, doing well and healthy. Thank God for the blessings despite the challenges we face due to covid related reasons. Anyway, it was a tiring day for me. I tried my best to surprise my wife this day because she was feeling a bit under the weather. I made a red and lunar year themed dinner. Yes, we had fortune cookies and red balloons! At this point, we laughed because we realised that we will be celebrating our 10 year anniversary as a couple this coming June 2021! Imagine that. So quick.

February 14, 2020, it was time for me to treat my wife to a good dinner. Since we are going home to attend my brother’s wedding, we had to limit our date budget within our means. We went to Beefeater and wore matching jeans and jacket. Blue was our theme. kinda cute. In my head, we are similar to Justin and Britney in the red carpet in an award show years ago. By the way, covid was happening at this time and the scare of having the virus in Luton was not very palpable that time. We didn’t have any clue that a pandemic will be declared soon. I gave her a cook book with our favourite recipes.

February 14, 2019, my wife and I are both in thrifty mood. We went to tesco, had coffee, cooked food, went to the park and to the church. I focused on Self Love. 🥰

February 14, 2018, my wife and I had a pre -valentines date in a cafe in the newest mall in our city after watching the fifty shades movie. We went straight to the carmen hotel where we utterly had a fantastic time.

February 14, 2017, we were supposed to eat at a vegan restaurant but Gail and I realized that it’s best to spend Valentines with family. We cooked a special pesto pasta, spicy fried chicken and homemade french fries for everyone. It felt like a feast and we were so satiated. Later that night, My wife and I played with her lipstick and the flowers I gave her earlier that day. I wanted her to kiss me all over. haha! I’m glad that we documented the kiss marks.

February 14, 2016, my wife surprised me with her cooking skills. She prepared a lovely dinner. so yummy. Her idea of a valentine’s day celebration was more appropriate than the “zombified” surprise I gave her earlier that day. I love that day.

February 14, 2015, I celebrated the night with my family and friends. We shared food, fun and laughter. I realized that valentines day is not just for lovers, its about exchanging love, affection to one another.

On February 14, 270 AD, the night before his death, Valentinus wrote a note for his Friend, Julia. He’s urging her to stay close to God. He signed it with the words ‘From your Valentine.’ To my family and friends, just like Valentinus, I encourage all of us to stay close to God – all the time. WHY? because its impossible to Love without God.

From your Valentine,

Nikko/ Pao
